We encourage members and volunteers to bring guests to Novato Village events and activities -- help spread the word and grow our Village!  If you need a ride to an event, please call Marin Village at 415-457-4633 about four days in advance of the event.  Also, check out marinvillages.org to view the wide variety of Village activities throughout Marin that are available to you as Village members and/or volunteers.

CULTURE CLUB

When:  Wednesday April 4, 2018    1:00 p.m.

Where:  Century Regency, 280 Smith Ranch Rd., San Rafael

Admission:  $22 (tickets can be purchased at the theatre before the Opera)

Several members and volunteers have expressed interest in attending cultural activities.  Our first foray will be to attend the Metropolitan Opera simulcast (in HD) of the Mozart opera Cosi fan tutte.   We’ll meet just inside the theatre to the left of the ticket booth.  For more info regarding this production, including a synopsis of the opera, check out the Met’s website: metopera.org     Questions?  Jean Gunn jmbgunn@gmail.com

 

GREAT BOOKS CLUB

The group will be discussing the following short stories from Counter Parts under the “Love” section:  The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson and The Pangs of Love by Jane Gardam.  New attendees are always welcome to join this dynamic and fun group. MONTHLY COFFEE

When:  Wednesday, April 11, 2018     10:30-noon

Where:  Community Room, NovaRo III, 31 Pinheiro Circle, Novato

Directions: 101 north to San Marin exit, left on San Marin Dr., left on Redwood Blvd., right on Pinheiro Circle.  Parking:  Street parking is available on Pinheiro Circle past the Club House and also on Redwood Blvd.  Please avoid parking in designated resident spaces.

It’s always fun (lively conversation, good coffee/tea and lots of tasty treats!) to get together in this friendly, comfortable setting. Feel free to bring your friends and neighbors along.

The American Association of University Women is hosting a coffee to provide information about Novato Village to AAUW members.  This event is open to your friends and neighbors who are interested in finding out more about Novato Village.  Help spread the word!

 

NO-HOST HAPPY HOUR AT RICKEY’S

Where:  Rickey’s at Inn Marin, 250 Entrada Dr., Novato

Join the fun in this relaxing venue featuring great spirits and yummy food at reasonable prices.  It’s an enjoyable way for Novato Village members and volunteers to get together.

 

APPLE WORKSHOP

MONTHLY LUNCHEON

When:  Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at noon

Where:  Beso Bistro at Hamilton Field, 502 S. Palm Dr., Novato

Noted for its cozy ambiance (both indoors and outside) Beso is a popular favorite among Novato Villagers.  The menu features a wide array of small plate choices, salads, burgers, soup/sandwich combo, fish tacos, etc.  Join us at Beso this month, and feel free to bring a friend along.

         

LET’S PLAY BOGGLE!

When:  Thursday, April 26, 2018     1:30-3:30 p.m.

Here's another Novato Village group that really knows how to have fun!  Boggle is a game played using a plastic grid of lettered dice in which players attempt to find words in sequences of adjacent letters. Be prepared to boggle your mind and have a blast!                      


Please Join Marin Villages for the Opening of “80 Over 80”

The ‘80 over 80’ exhibit is showcasing 80 works of art by Marin County artists over the age of 80.  The exhibit will feature landscapes, still lifes, portraits, abstracts, photographs and more by some of Marin’s most artistic older adults. The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 6-8 pm at Bartolini Gallery, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael. To RSVP, email exhibits@marincounty.org   If you are unable to email, please call the office at 415.457.4633 and we will RSVP for you.  The exhibit will be open April 18 – June 1, 2018.

EVENT:  Senior Produce Market

WHEN:  Wed., April 4 & 18, 2018    10:00 – 11:00 a.m. (1st & 3rd Wed. every month)

WHERE:  Margaret Todd Senior Center, 1560 Hill Rd., Novato

Seasonal produce from local suppliers and growers (priced at or below wholesale cost) is offered twice each month.  Convenient per-item pricing saves money since you’re able to purchase only what you can use (e.g., one radish, one stalk of celery, ½ head of lettuce.)

Refreshments and surprises throughout the year.

 

EVENT:  AARP Safe Driving Course

WHEN:   Wednesday, April 11 & 18    (2 day course)     9:30 a.m-1:30 p.m.

WHERE:  Margaret Todd Senior Center, 1560 Hill Road, Novato (Meeting Room # 3)

COST:  $15 – AARP members, $20 - non-members (cash or check only)

REGISTRATION:  obtain reg. form at Margaret Todd Center & submit form with payment

Developed by AARP, this 2 day class reviews basic rules of the road, including accident prevention, car maintenance, and the effects of medication and alcohol on driving.

 

EVENT:  Spring Trash to Treasures Flea Market

WHEN:  Saturday, April 14, 2018   9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Shop for unique second-hand treasures at this indoor community flea market. With over 30 vendors, you're sure to find something!

 

EVENT:  Poles for Walking:  Balance, Mobility and Basic Walking

WHEN:  Wednesday, April 25, 2018   1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

WHERE:  Margaret Todd Senior Center, 1560 Hill Rd., Novato

ADMISSION:  $20

This class provides an opportunity to learn and practice skills that help to improve balance and endurance.  Please wear comfortable shoes.  Good quality walking poles will be provided, but if you bring your own poles, please be sure to put on rubber tips to protect the floor.  Space is limited.  Call 415-899-8290 to register.
